Peter’s Problems

Peter Nygaard
Peter Nygaard

Peter Nygaard is Danish and an Affiliate member of the Grand Prix Drivers Club. He is one of the leading grand prix photographers and has contributed many of the photographs of racing on our site. However, he had a challenging situation recently on his way to Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix.

He flew by SAS to Barcelona but arrived alone; his camera bag with his impressive collection of Canon cameras and lenses did not arrive with him. Two hours later, he received a message to say it would be in the next flight and would be delivered to his hotel. But nothing arrived, so he went to the circuit with no cameras.

However for some years now Canon in Japan has run a small desk in the press room at grand prix races where you can rent out a wide angle or telephoto lens and thankfully on this occasion Canon were able to loan him their latest model the R1 but, as Peter explained to me “…..R1 is a great camera, but it´s not the same as having your own camara – it always takes time to find the right settings etc.”

So, as this is written, over a week later, the bag has not yet been found and he is due to set off for the Austrian grand next Thursday!
