The second Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Grand Prix Drivers Club, at the Club’s new home at Silverstone, took place on Saturday, 23 August.

Club President, Emanuele Pirro, opened proceedings to welcome the members present which included ex-President Howden Ganley, John Watson, Thierry Boutsen and Stefan Johansson. Club Vice-President Mario Theissen was also in attendance, with Vice-President Tim Schenken joining by video call from Australia. At the meeting, Tim confirmed he wished to stand down from the role he had held with the Club for a number of years, and thanked his fellow members for their support and memories. This led to a vote amongst the members for Tim’s replacement, and Belgian driver Thierry Boutsen was voted in as Tim’s replacement.

Outside normal club business, plans were discussed to increase the membership of the club with drivers who qualify for membership and have retired from Formula 1 in recent years. There are also plans to give the Club a much higher profile at motor sport events where the ever-growing number of racing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet some of the members.
