The second General Assembly of the Grand Prix Drivers Club took place at the Club’s new home at Silverstone on Saturday, August 23.

The Club Presiden,t Emanuele Pirro, opened the proceedings to welcome the members present which included Past President Howden Ganley, John Watson, Thierry Boutsen and Stefan Johansson. Club vice-President Mario Theissen attended, and our other Vice-President, Tim Schenken, joined by video call from Australia. Tim also confirmed he wished to stand down from the role he has held for a number of years. This led to a vote amongst the members, and Belgian driver Thierry Boutsen was voted as Tim’s replacement.

Outside the normal club business, plans were discussed to increase the membership of the club with drivers who qualify for membership and have retired from Formula 1 in recent years. There are also plans to give the Club a much higher profile at motor sport events where the ever-growing number of racing enthusiasts will have the opportunity to meet some of the members.
