At the Le Mans 24 Hour race this year a little bit of history was made when Earl Bamber and Brendon Hartley became the first New Zealanders to finish on the podium for forty three years.
Bamber along with Nico Hulkenberg and Nick Tandy won the 2015 race in the Porsche 919 Hybrid. Brendon Hartley finished in second place, also in a Porsche 919 Hybrid with Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard.
The last New Zealander to finish Le Mans on the podium was Club President Howden Ganley in 1972 driving a Matra MS670 into second place behind the other Matra of Graham Hill and Henri Pescarolo……………………………………………
