Congratulations are due to our Grand Prix Drivers Club Honorary member Daniele Audetto former racing manager of Scuderia Ferrari and Competitions Director of Fiat S.P.A. who celebrates his 83rd birthday and to John Watson who is 80 years of age today, May 4.

Daniele was originally involved in rallying as a University student and co-drove with another student, Luca Montezemolo driving Lancias. Both were to follow on to be Team Mangers of Scudera Ferrari before Daniele worked with Ligier, Arrows and Renault on the marketing and sponsorship side and later Vice President and Commercial Director of Minardi.
He joined Lamborghini and set up Lamborghini Engineering before being one of the organisers of the Superbike World Championship.
His final involvement with F1 came when he was managing director at the HRT Formula 1 team.
John Watson is one of the best known Northern Irish racing drivers of the 1960s. His father Marshall Watson was a competitor in hill climbs, races and Sprints

John’s debut in Formula one came in 1973 at the British Grand Prix in a Brabham BT37 entered by Paul Michaels of Hexagon of Highgate the motor dealers. In 1976 he won the Austrian Grand Prix for Roger Penske’s Formula 1 team but his greatest victory was at Silverstone 1981 winning the British Grand Prix in a McLaren MP4. He later ran his own driving school at Silverstone and has now blossomed as a Television pundit.
