A number of Grand Prix Drivers Club members were present at Silverstone on Saturday April 25 when the British Racing Drivers’ Club invited Sir Jackie Stewart to announce the renaming the club’s private grandstand in the name of Jim Clark

Though Jim Clark had not joined the club before he was killed at Hockenheim in 1968 Past-President, Howden Ganley and Richard Attwood were present as was former British Grand Prix winner John Watson.

To add to the occasion former Team Lotus mechanic “Beaky” Simms brought along Clark’s former Team Lotus 32B from the Lotus Museum.

It was appropriate that “Beaky”, as he is called, was present as he was Jim Clark’s mechanic at Hockenheim in 1968 when Clark was killed.
